Life & Crimes Of Serial Bikni Killer Charles Sobhraj 

Charles Sobhraj was born in Vietnam to a Vietnamese mother and an Indian Sindhi father.

Charles Sobhraj was adopted by his mother's new boyfriend, a French army lieutenant.

Sobhraj received his first prison sentence when he was only 19 years old.

Sobhraj used his cunning to get close to Felix d'Escogne, a wealthy prison volunteer.

Sobhraj used Felix's stature to gain access to Paris' high society and the criminal underworld.

Throughout his early 20s, he committed petty scams and burglaries, and it was during this time that he met Chantal Compagnon, the love of his life and his first wife.

The couple got married and fled to Mumbai from France during the 1970s. 

Sobhraj also ran a car theft and smuggling syndicate. 

Sobhraj met his younger brother André who became his partner in crime. Though the duo didn’t last for long.  

His crimes became more serious as time passed. Sobhraj committed his first murder in 1975.

Sobhraj Killed Teresa Knowlton from Seattle and she was found dead in a pool, wearing a bikini. 

Vitaji Hakim was his next victim. His body was found in Pattaya, burned, and thrown away. 

Hakim's girlfriend was also discovered dead in a pool while dressed in a bikini. 

Sobhraj also murdered a Dutch couple whose bodies were found burnt and discarded.

Charles Sobhraj was now known as the  Bikini Killer.

After this, Charles made his way back to India where he added two more women, Barbara & Mery Ellen in his Group

Charles and the three ladies attempted to defraud a few French visitors, but were caught in the act and arrested.

During the arrest, however, he was able to sneak in a few gems, which he used to bribe the guards for a comfortable life inside the jail.

Barbara and Mary Ellen, on the other hand, ended up killing themselves. 

Sobhraj was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Leclerc was deported. In 1984, she died of cancer.

Sobhraj threw a party during his 10th year in prison and drugged the guards & his inmates. Charles Sobhraj walked out of jail like a free bird. 

Sobhraj again captured in Goa and sentenced to another 10 years in prison.  

On February 17, 1997, he was released and returned to France. By that point, all evidence against him had been destroyed.

He hired an agent, conducted interviews, and charged outrageous fees for it.

He was arrested in Nepal in 2003 after a journalist spotted him. He was sentenced to life in prison 

While locked up, he announced his engagement to Bigg Boss 5 contestant Nihita Biswas in 2008.

In 2010 &  2014, he was convicted of another murder.

He served a life sentence in a prison in Nepal.
